Ben Yole has broken another national record.

On Friday night in Burnie on Tasmania’s north-west coast, he trained seven of the eight winners, which saw him pass Queensland’s Grant Dixon’s record of 340 wins for a 12-month season during the 2018/19 term.

Yole went into the meeting needing five winners to draw level, and given he trained all bar 11 starters on the program, he was destined to break the record.

The win of Ranieri in race 6 saw Yole equal the record.

Sent out as a $3.40 favourite, the standing start specialist jumped on top in the 1892m standing start race and proved too good for second-elect Queenofdance late by a half-head.

The record was broken when Written In Silk scored in race 7 to take Yole’s total to 341.

Written In Silk, a four-year-old daughter of Sportswriter, was taken straight to the lead by driver Taylor Ford, who had the race run at their terms in a 67.7s first half of the final mile until challenged in the home straight by Midnight In Memphis, who obtained an inside run, and Spikey Boy, in a mile rate of 2m 6.9s for 2180m.

Other winners from the Yole stable were; Lalibela (Cody Crossland), Spot On (Dylan Ford), Juniper (Nathan Ford), Heza Rummage (Bronte Miller) and Graphite Stride (Nathan Ford).

Yole ended the night with a season total of 342 wins, with 275 of those in Tasmania, 64 in Victoria and three in New South Wales.

The only non-Yole trained winner of the night was Benjamin Niadh in the opening race for father and son duo Steven and Brodie Davis.

The pacer had to work to hold the lead from his pole draw in the up to national rating 44 mobile start event before racing away late to win by six meters in a mile rate of 2m 2.7s, 1.4s outside the 2180m track record.
