Two heats of the Evicus and a prelude of the Dandy Patch for the Tasbred two-year-olds headline Friday night’s nine-race card in Hobart.

Last start Hobart winner Moth Hunter will be looking to overcome an outside draw when she lines up in the opening heat of the Evicus, which kicks off the card at 17:55.

The daughter of Huntsville broke her maiden status at her second race track appearance on 30 October, scoring as the $1.18 favourite.

The John Castles prepared pacer was driven by his nephew Charlie, who was slightly concerned about the filly’s recent win.

“She probably just knocked off a bit up the straight, which was a slight concern, but after a couple of others fell in the score up the first time, and then there was a delay, all things considered it was a pretty good run,” Charlie said.

“She has improved in every race and trial, and I think there is still a bit to come. Her attitude sometimes can be her issue, but at the moment it has been good and hopefully it stays that way,” added Charlie, who will be in the sulky again on Friday.

Moth Hunter has drawn outside of the front row in barrier six in a heat that will see all six runners qualify for the final.

“We’re not too fussed drawn out there. There looks to be a little bit of speed, so we will likely go back. Hopefully we are saving the good draw for the final,” said the driver.

The race favourite is Cee Tee Chelsea, who has drawn the pole, while Reely Nauti also has strong winning claims.

Heat Two is set down as race three, where Iylac Pakaria (pictured) will be looking to keep her unbeaten record intact.

The daughter of Betting Line hasn’t been seen since winning the Sweepstakes Fillies Final on 3 September.

The heat has the most significance, with the last placegetter being the emergency for Sunday week’s final.

The Dandy Patch Prelude is race four on the card, and it will see the two-year-old colts and geldings go over the 2090m trip for the first time in Tasmania this season.

Karalta Artemis has been installed as the race favourite after setting a new Tasmanian two-year-old record at his last start in a slick 1m 56.3s.

He has drawn the second line and will start beside the Todd Rattray-trained and driven Nyack, who is first-up since his Colts and Geldings Sweepstakes win in early September.

The Group 2 $60,000 Finals will be held in Hobart on 20 November.
