COMEBACK pacer Wolf Stride will continue his trek back to the highest level when he returns to Club Menangle on Saturday night.

In what will be his third start from a nine-month break, Wolf Stride has drawn barrier seven for trainer Darren Binskin.

The son of Rock N Roll Heaven slots into gate six with the removal of the emergency.

Third upon his return earlier this month, Wolf Stride was successful in 1:53.7 over 2300 metres around the world class venue a fortnight ago.

Despite the lure of Grand Circuit racing in Queensland last weekend, Binskin elected to bypass the $355,000 The Blacks A Fake.

Hopeful Wolf Stride will continue to regain his best, Binskin has set his sights on the Victoria Cup as the gelding's first major target.

The time-honoured event is scheduled to be conducted at Tabcorp Park Melton on October 8.

"He has been progressing steadily and that's how we want it to remain," Binskin said. "There's been no rush in getting him back to where he is, which is why going to Albion Park last week was never on the agenda.

"I've been more than happy with his progress since he raced a couple of weeks ago, and if he keeps going the way he is, he'll be heading to the Victoria Cup in a few months.

"Until then he will race at Menangle every two or three weeks."

As for his pending assignment, Wolf Stride is a $1.85 TAB Fixed Odds favourite, with Whereyabinboppin considered the biggest threat at $6.

Winner under similar conditions last week, Whereyabinboppin will begin from gate eight.

"He's going to be very hard to beat again," Binskin said. "His work has improved since his last start which goes hand in hand with the fitness level improving."
