CONNECTIONS of The Gold Standard hope he can do his name justice again when he returns to Club Menangle today.

Following a string of placings with a success at the world class venue last week, The Gold Standard is engaged in the opening event on the card.

Although drawn wide in barrier six, the Elizabeth Heath-trained trotter is among the main chances over 2300 metres.

"I've been thrilled with his form and he thoroughly deserved that win," Heath said. "The draw is a bit awkward and there is some good form around him, but will go very well again."

Betting markets have the son of Majestic Son mid range at $11.

Law Legend sits at the top of the table at $2.75 despite coming from the outside of the front row, with Finn Runs Red considered the main danger at $3.25.

Prepared by popular couple Joe and Mary Rando, Finn Runs Red have fared better in barrier five.

Scoring first-up from an eight-month break, Finn Runs Red was then a solid fifth from a 10-metre handicap and is expected to strip fitter for his pending assignment.

The Randos also have Horse Of Course in the following event, with the gelding in search of a drought-breaking victory.

A relatively new member to the stable, Horse Of Course hasn't visited the winners' circle since scoring in Pinjarra last August.

To be driven by Jack Trainor, Horse Of Course has drawn to settle prominently from barrier three

In what is the most open race of the meeting, Scenic Sky is the $3.90 favourite from gate six.
